Learning Arabic sign language

As we draw closer to the end of the summer programme, we held our last special formal activity for the children by inviting a group of youth from El Buss camp to give us a session on sign language. The group presented themselves by asking which languages were spoken in different countries. According to the children who all speak Arabic at home but are French or English educated, they speak French in America and Arabic in Italy! We did manage to straighten that out and came to the agreement that there are many languages in the world and many ways to communicate. Sign language being another one of them.The children started by writing the alphabet then trying to guess what the sign would be for each letter. They were practically jumping out of their seats trying to guess and at then end of the alphabet session were keen to stand up and introduce themselves by signing their name.
